Meadow Study — the full arrangement

A meadow bouquet is not a tidy bouquet. Cosmos sits higher than the scabious, the nigella leans left, and the grasses go wherever they want. We build it that way on purpose: the stems are placed at different heights and angles so the arrangement keeps moving after it is in the vase.

The flowers are chosen for air rather than mass — small heads, fine stems, a lot of space between them. That makes it a good bouquet for a hallway or a bedside table, where a dense arrangement would feel like a hedge, and a poor one for a boardroom, where it can read as under-filled.

We finish it with a loose kraft wrap and a linen tie, no ribbon. It is the least formal thing we make, and the one people most often photograph.

Care

Three things that buy you four more days

Every bouquet leaves with a printed card. This is the long version.

01

Keep the height

Do not re-cut every stem to the same length when you unwrap it — the uneven heights are the design. Cut only the stems that are touching the bottom of the vase.

02

Cool water, clean vase

Meadow flowers have thin stems and wilt fast in warm water. Fill two-thirds, use the flower food, and keep the vase away from a radiator.

03

Expect movement

Grasses and nigella will shift in the first day as they settle. Nudge them back with a fingertip rather than re-tying; the arrangement is meant to look grown, not fixed.

How we would send it

Notes from the studio

  • Choose it for a bedside or a hallway — it is the bouquet that suits a small room.
  • Ask for extra grasses if you want it taller than the photograph.
  • For a sympathy arrangement, request it all-white; we will drop the lilac without changing the price.

Questions

Before you order

Will it look messy?
It is meant to look grown rather than arranged, but the stems are still placed with intent. If you want a tighter shape, say so and we will make the Market Seasonal instead.
Does it last as long?
Slightly less than roses — five to eight days is normal. Change the water on day two and it will go the longer end.
