Market Seasonal

Thirty stems chosen at the market that morning. The recipe changes every week; the standard does not.

Market Seasonal — the full arrangement

This is the bouquet the studio makes for itself. Whatever is strongest on the market floor that morning — ranunculus in April, stock in June, dahlias in September — bought in quantity and arranged with one or two quieter stems to hold it together.

Because the recipe moves, the photographs on this page are a record rather than a promise. If you order Market Seasonal in a given week, you get that week's flowers: cream, apricot and sage in late spring; deeper rust and plum by October. The constant is the shape — a rounded, hand-tied bouquet that stands in a vase without support and reads well from across a room.

It is also the bouquet we recommend when the occasion is not precise. A birthday, a thank-you, a Tuesday. It is hard to get wrong, and it does not look like it came from a catalogue.

Care

Three things that buy you four more days

Every bouquet leaves with a printed card. This is the long version.

01

Cut and strip

Remove any leaf that would sit below the waterline — leaves rot before flowers do, and that is what makes a vase smell on day four. Cut 2cm from each stem at an angle.

02

Fresh water, twice

Change the water on day two and day four. Seasonal mixes include soft-stemmed flowers that drink fast; topping up is not the same as changing.

03

Keep it out of the sun

A windowsill in July will halve the life of stock and ranunculus. A cool room with indirect light is what the flowers were grown for.

How we would send it

Notes from the studio

  • Ask for it in a low bowl for a coffee table; the stems are long enough to cut down.
  • For a workplace, order two Petites rather than one Grand — they can be split across two rooms.
  • Pair with the Friday note if you want to know what is coming before you order.

Questions

Before you order

Can I request a color palette?
Yes — say “warm”, “soft” or “green and white” in the enquiry and we will buy to it within the week's supply. We will not promise an exact flower.
Why does the price change?
The stem count does not, but the market price does. We hold the price through a season and adjust when a flower doubles at the market rather than quietly shrinking the bouquet.
