The Rose Atelier
Garden roses, opened at the bench. Twenty-four stems, one palette, nothing else competing with them.

A rose bouquet fails for one of two reasons: the roses were cut too tight and never open, or they were cut too open and arrive tired. We buy ours at the stage in between — firm, with the outer petals still folded — and open them for a day in cool water before they are tied. What you receive is a bouquet that has already started, not one that has to be coaxed.
The Rose Atelier is deliberately narrow. Garden roses, a little lisianthus for softness, and eucalyptus for the scent at the back. No filler, no dyed carnations, no ribbon bow that fights the flowers. It is the bouquet we make when someone says “I do not know what she likes, but I know she likes roses.”
We use two varieties through the year: a blush garden rose with a tight, many-petalled centre, and an ivory one with a looser, cabbage shape. Which one leads depends on the week. If you need a specific shade for a date — a wedding, a photograph, a room — say so in the enquiry and we will tell you honestly whether the market can deliver it.

Care
Three things that buy you four more days
Every bouquet leaves with a printed card. This is the long version.
01
Unwrap, then cut
Take the paper off before you do anything else — roses bruise against kraft in transit. Cut 2cm off each stem at an angle with a sharp knife or snips, never scissors, which crush the water channel.
02
Shallow water, cool room
Roses drink from the bottom third. Fill a clean vase to about 8cm, add the flower food, and keep the bouquet out of direct sun and away from fruit — ripening fruit releases ethylene and shortens a rose's life faster than warm air.
03
Change the water on day three
Lift the bouquet out, rinse the vase, re-cut 1cm and refill. If a petal edge browns, pull the whole outer petal away rather than trimming it; the flower underneath is usually sound.
Detail: blush, ivory, soft green.

How we would send it
Notes from the studio
- Send with a hand-written card — we write it in ink, not a printed label.
- For a dinner, ask for the Grand in a low vessel rather than a tall one so people can see across the table.
- If the room is warm and dry, choose the Petite: fewer roses lose less water.
