Sympathy flowers
White, green and quiet. No banner, no glitter, no message printed on a ribbon.
Sympathy flowers are the hardest thing we send, and the easiest to get wrong. The instinct is to send something large. What is usually wanted is something calm: white and green, low enough to sit on a hall table, arranged so it does not demand to be looked at.
We make two versions. The first is a hand-tied bouquet the family can take home and put in their own vase. The second is a low arrangement in a lidded vessel, delivered to a funeral home or a house, which needs no attention from anyone for the first three days.
We do not print messages on ribbon and we do not include a branded card. Your words go on a plain card in ink. If you do not know what to write, tell us the relationship and we will suggest two or three lines — you choose.
Practical
Things worth knowing
The details that decide whether the flowers arrive at the right moment, in the right room.
Hospital deliveries
Most hospitals do not allow lilies or soil. Tell us the ward and we will build without both, and deliver in a sealed vase rather than loose stems.
Timing
Send before the service if you can — the house is full afterwards. If you are late, send a plant instead: it does not compete with the flowers already there.
What to write
“Thinking of you and your family.” is enough. Avoid “at least” and avoid explaining the loss back to them.
Delivery
Same-day in the city, next day nationwide. For funeral homes we call ahead to confirm the delivery window and the name the arrangement should be listed under.
